Marty 'Duck' Pattin (April 6, 1943 - Oct. 3, 2018)

Marty Pattin began working at Walt's when he was finishing up at Charleston High School. He worked there during his years at Eastern.

I worked with him a few hours at the Short Stop Drive Inn (Actually, Marty was making a star appearance and greeted customers on opening day). Marty had suggested the name of the Short Stop to Walt Warmoth and Larry Mizener!

Martin William Pattin was an American Major League Baseball right-handed pitcher. He pitched for the California Angels, Seattle Pilots, Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox, and the Kansas City Royals. During a 13-year baseball career, Pattin compiled 114 wins, 1,179 strikeouts, and a 3.62 earned run average.

This past weekend, Marty was back in Charleston, IL to visit friends. He died of natural causes in his sleep.
